I'm still alive!

I'm still alive and kicking over in Ghana! I can't believe it but i've been living here for just over a month now! I've seen and done quite a few amazing things...have you ever sat 20 in a bus meant for only 9 people? or seen a 3-4 foot long green snake going down the middle of the road being chased by a group of men trying to kill it with a bench? I absolutely hate seafood but i've eaten sardines almost daily and have eaten snail. I've also seen enough littering and trash everywhere to last me 100 lifetimes...
But apart from the random things here and there....life in ghana proceeds as normal. Except for the fact that I shaved my head when i first got here. And I have been teaching in a junior high school with 60-70 students per class. I must tell you all that this has been quite an experience and I am loving teaching and the Ghanaian people are extremely friendly and welcoming for all of us with the peace corps. Hopefully I'll be able to post some pictures on my next journey to the internet cafe. Adieu for now.

Glad to hear that things are well. You've got to really hate snakes to beat one with a bench. I hope you got photos of that? We'll send you a snake ID book. Some of those over there are not to be trifled with.

Sardines every night? Bummer...and I like them.

Do you remember that nice watch that you left here? Ebay offers on it are already up to twelve bucks. Your truck is still holding up, thanks for letting me drive it. Glad to be using it-gas is still a bit over $4/gallon.

Matty!!!!!!
I keep asking Chris if there was any word on you. Guess I should check my email a little more often eh? Sounds like things are going really well for you over there...that is so awesome to hear. Everything is hunkey-dorey over here state side. I am starting a new job at the Atlantis, they are opening a Gourmet NY Deli and I am going to be a prep chef (gotta start somewhere right?? LOL). Can't wait!
Anyway, glad to hear from you, be safe, and we'll keep an eye out for your next post.
Ciao,
Denise and Chris

Matty!!

I am jealous as all get out that you're having fun in bizzare foreign lands and all I am doing is sitting on my a$$ for eight hours a day in Colorado Springs!!!

I miss you man! Maybe one of these days you'll invite me along on your trips to Europe (*hint hint*) or Africa or where ever the heck you decide to go :)

Take care and keep cool ;P

Hi Matt...

Thanks for keeping us up-to-date with your life in Africa. Sounds exciting -- maybe TOO exciting with the snake. I'm not too into slizzering things, you know. I probably wouldn't do too well over there!

My niece Lauren is over there now, but we haven't heard from her yet.
Sounds like she might be in for a shock with the lifestyle change. It'll be interesting to hear her experiences. I'll try to pass them on to you.

Stay safe, enjoy yourself, and remember we love you!
